Karaoke Sync™ - User Tutorial
A step-by-step guide to creating karaoke tracks with timed lyrics.
Getting Started
When you first open Karaoke Sync, you'll see the main screen with options to create a new project or access your saved projects.
Free vs Pro
- Free: 10 lifetime exports, 10 projects
- Pro: Unlimited exports and projects
Creating a Project from Audio
Use this option when you have a song file (MP3, M4A, WAV) on your device.
Step 1: Tap the Import Tab
Tap the + button at the bottom of the screen.
Step 2: Select "Audio File"
Make sure "Audio File" is selected at the top.
Step 3: Choose Your Song
Tap "Select Audio File" and browse to your song. Supported formats: MP3, M4A, WAV, FLAC, AAC.
Step 4: Project Created
After selecting a file, the project is automatically created using the audio filename as the project name. You'll see the main editor with the waveform.
Creating a Project from YouTube
Use this option to create karaoke timing for any YouTube video.
Step 1: Tap the Import Tab
Tap the + button at the bottom of the screen.
Step 2: Select "YouTube Video"
Tap "YouTube Video" at the top of the Import screen.
Step 3: Paste the YouTube URL
Copy a YouTube video URL and paste it into the URL field. The app supports:
youtube.com/watch?v=...youtu.be/...
Step 4: Create Project
The video title will auto-fill. Tap "Create Project" to proceed.
Adding Lyrics
After creating a project, you'll see the main editor with a waveform (for audio) or video player (for YouTube).
Step 1: Tap "Import"
Tap the Import button to open the lyrics import screen.
Step 2: Paste Your Lyrics
- Copy lyrics from a lyrics website
- Paste them into the text field
- Each line should be on its own line
- The app automatically parses your lyrics and shows a line count
Tip: You can also paste LRC format lyrics (with timestamps like [00:15.50] Lyrics here) and the app will detect and import the timestamps automatically.
Step 3: Tap "Import Lyrics"
Tap the "Import Lyrics" button to add the lyrics to your project.
Timing Your Lyrics
This is the core feature - syncing each lyric line to the exact moment in the song.
Step 1: Tap "Timing"
Tap the Timing button on the Home view to open the timing editor.
Step 2: Tap "Start Timing"
Tap the Start Timing button to begin the timing process. The song will start playing.
Step 3: Listen and Mark Each Line
When you hear the moment a line should appear, tap the "Mark" button (or tap the lyric line itself). The current playback time will be saved as that line's timestamp.
Step 4: Continue Through the Song
Repeat for each line. The app will automatically advance to the next line after you mark one.
Step 5: Save
When finished, tap "Save" to save your timing.
Fine-Tuning Timestamps
After initial timing, you may want to adjust some timestamps for perfect sync.
Step 1: Tap a Lyric Line
In the editor, tap any lyric line to select it.
Step 2: Tap "..."
Tap the ... button to open fine-tune adjustment options.
Step 3: Adjust the Timestamp
Use the +/- buttons to adjust by:
- 0.1 seconds - for small adjustments
- 0.5 seconds - for medium adjustments
- 1.0 second - for larger adjustments
Step 4: Preview
Tap the timestamp to jump to that position and hear if it sounds right.
Tip: You can also adjust "Past lines" or "Future lines" to shift multiple timestamps at once.
Practice Mode
Practice singing along without recording.
Step 1: Open a Project
From the Library, tap a project to open it.
Step 2: Tap "Practice"
Tap the Practice button in the action row.
Step 3: Sing Along
- Lyrics auto-scroll with the current line highlighted
- Tap any line to jump to that position
- Use wired headphones to hear yourself in real-time (passthrough)
Step 4: Exit
Tap the X or back button to exit Practice mode.
Recording Mode
Record your voice while the music plays for a karaoke experience.
Step 1: Open a Project
From the Library, tap a project with local audio (not YouTube).
Step 2: Tap "Record"
Tap the Record button (microphone icon).
Step 3: Allow Microphone Access
If prompted, allow microphone access.
Step 4: Get Ready
A 3-2-1 countdown will appear before recording starts.
Step 5: Sing!
- The music plays while your voice is recorded
- Lyrics auto-scroll with highlighting
- Use wired headphones for real-time voice monitoring
Step 6: Save Recording
Tap "Save" when finished.
Step 7: Preview Your Recording
Listen to your voice mixed with the music. Adjust the voice sync offset if needed.
Step 8: Export or Re-record
- Export: Save the mixed audio (voice + music) as M4A
- Re-record: Try again (overwrites previous recording)
Note: Recording and exporting is only available for audio file projects, not YouTube projects.
Exporting Your Project
Export your timed lyrics in various formats.
Step 1: Open Export Options
In the project editor, tap "Export" or the share icon.
Step 2: Choose a Format

Step 3: Save the File
The file will be saved to your Downloads or shared via the share sheet.
Note: Free users have 10 lifetime exports. Pro users have unlimited exports.
Managing Projects
Viewing Your Projects
Tap the Library tab to see all saved projects.
Opening a Project
Tap any project to open it in the editor.
Renaming a Project
In the editor, tap the menu button (three dots) and select "Rename" to change the project name.
Deleting a Project
In the Library, swipe left on a project and tap "Delete".
Pro Subscription
Upgrade to Pro for unlimited exports and projects.
How to Subscribe
- Tap the Settings tab
- Tap "Upgrade to Pro"
- Choose Monthly or Yearly
- Confirm with Face ID / Touch ID
Managing Your Subscription
To cancel or manage your subscription:
- Open iPhone Settings
- Tap your name at the top
- Tap Subscriptions
- Find Karaoke Sync and manage from there
Tips & Tricks
- Use wired headphones for Sing and Practice modes - Bluetooth has too much latency for real-time monitoring
- Import LRC files - If you find lyrics with timestamps online, paste them directly and the app will import the timing
- Tap timestamps to preview - Click any timestamp to jump to that position in the song
- Fine-tune in small increments - Use 0.1s adjustments for perfect sync
- YouTube for practice - Great for practicing with music videos, but you can't record or export audio from YouTube projects
